Boulder County Democratic Party
Helping Out
The Boulder Democratic Party is an all-volunteer organization, and, as this new election cycle develops, there are many opportunities for people who want to help. Based on what we learned during the last campaign cycle, we know there are a lot of you out there with a great deal to contribute.

Below, you will find sections describing a wide range of current opportunities. Click on the contact name at the end of the section to send an email to that person indicating your interest.

Work in your own precinct
Work in our field organization (Get Out The Vote) doing these and other jobs:
  • Precinct Volunteers - Helps get the voters out
  • Precinct Leaders - Organizes precincts
  • Area Coordinators - Coordinates groups of precincts
  • House District Team Leaders - Oversees all precincts in a House District
We need volunteers to help throughout Boulder County. There are 5 House Districts and 225 Precincts in Boulder County. Within each Precinct, we need neighborhood volunteers to make phone calls, distribute election materials, serve as election judges or poll watchers, etc. Each Precinct needs one or two Leaders to recruit and organize volunteers. Precincts are organized by State House Districts, which are lead by one or more House District Team Leaders. One or more Area Coordinators, who are responsible for specific groups of precincts, assist each House District Team Leader.

Office Staffing
Office staffers (who generally work in pairs) often represent the BCDP to the general public. In that capacity, they must become familiar with the concerns of the day in order to be able to respond appropriately. Examples of such concerns range from questions regarding meetings, to election outcomes, to scheduled events, to voter registration. In addition to being able to do general office work, they must be able to navigate the website and use the email function. Training and on-going support will be provided.
Time commitment: 3 hrs/shift/week. (We also need good substitutes, so those who can't commit to a shift per week are nevertheless encouraged to sign up.)

Policy, Issue, and Education Committee (PIE)
ARE YOU JUST TIRED OF THE LAST 5 YEARS AND DREADING THE NEXT 3? ARE YOU ASKING YOURSELF "WHAT CAN I DO???"

The PIE Committee of the BCDP is recruiting members to join then in raising the consciousness of fellow Boulder County voters at this crucial time before the November elections. Join us in protesting the Bush/Cheney administration and their policies and in raising awareness of your fellow voters. The best part is that it is fun!

The time committment is one hour on a weekend morning, usually before noon. All you neeed to do is to stand on a streetcorner in Boulder County with other like-minded people and hold a sign proclaiming our displeasure with the administration. You will receive support and encouragement from a large majority of the the passing motorists but the ability to shrug off an occasional nonsupportive word or gesture would also be helpful.

This is an easy, painless way to feel you are doing your part.

Examples of the signs that we hold are:

IMPEACH BUSHWHY DOES BUSH HATE AMERICA?
IMPEACH CHENEY FIRSTDEFEND AMERICA AGAINST THIS GOV'T
HAD ENOUGH OF BUSHBUSH: WORST PRESIDENT EVER

So if you think you might be interested or know of others who would be or if you have any suggestions or questions, e-mail us at pie@bouldercountydems.org

Time commitment: 1-2 hours a week
