Determine The 2010 Boulder County Democratic Party Platform.
Core Democratic Party values and key policy recommendations must be clearly defined and voiced so that the will of the voter can be represented effectively by our elected Democratic officials. However, elected officials will only go as far as those they know will vote want them to go.
The only way to combat the control of this nation by corporate and other special interests is to ensure that the citizenry is engaged, vigilant, knowledgeable and empowered. A healthy democracy demands a persistent and consistent electorate. Voters can not afford to give up on the political process, but must stay involved even when and particularly because it isn't good enough.
In the months preceding our biannual caucuses, the BCDP Platform Committee seeks input concerning issues of the greatest concern to our members. Through a communitywide forum, neighborhood deliberations and online participation we seek help in determining our party’s platform from Democratic voters, candidates, elected officials and professionals and activists in the field.
Our purpose is to:
- Better assess the will of Democratic voters on an ongoing basis
- Increase trust and participation in the political process and
- Enhance communications between voters, candidates and elected officials.
Please make your voice heard. The more voters participate in this process, the greater the impact:
- Attend our forum (see calendar below)
- Submit your own resolutions or suggestions (see Submit Your Own Resolutions section below)
- Gather to discuss the issues in your precincts before caucuses
- Attend your neighborhood caucuses
- Vote online caucus week to help determine our 2010 Platform and
- Vote in every election cycle possible!
Elected officials will better represent the will of Democratic voters and stand firmly for their concerns, if they know that Democratic voters will stand firmly and consistently behind them.

Voting Info
For voting information, see our voting page.
Resolutions to the proposed 2010 BCDP Platform can be submited using the resolution form below, February 8-23. They can also be submitted at precinct caucuses on the evening of March 16, 2010.
Please note that our work is to identify the core values and key issues and policy recommendations that Democratic voters hold in common.
- We choose to keep the platform to an accessible format for the benefit of both the voting public and our elected officials.
- The platform is not intended for the micromanagement of our elected officals, but to help define and drive the general direction of legislation.
Therefore, the BCDP Platform Committee will determine which resolutions submitted by February 23 will be included on the BCDP Platform Ballot, posted online March 2 and offered for online voting between March 18- 25.
Resolutions submitted to caucuses on March 16, must use the resolution form (link below) and follow its guidelines. They must also reach a threshold of approval by the majority of caucuses meeting, in order to be included in the 2010 BCDP Final Platform Proposal and brought before the County Assembly for its approval in April. It is highly suggested that resolutions be submitted by Februray 23.
Use the resolution form to initiate a new platform plank. Resolutions must be submitted as instructed to be considered for platform inclusion. Please follow the examples provided and be brief and concise!
